Letter from Bryan Mulligan...

The last 6 years have seen wonderful growth for Intelligent Devices in the deployment of Intelligent Transportation Systems. During this time we have been fortunate to be involved in many interesting and innovative projects.  We’re honored to be part of the growth of ITS and the deployment of NTCIP both nationally and internationally.  Our association with the many talented manufacturers, consultants, integrators and State Departments of Transportation has contributed greatly to our growth and the maturity of our industry...

We believe that sharing these stories from our experiences will bring value to those that will listen.  To showcase these deployments and industry activities, IDI is committed to publishing a monthly newsletter, which we are calling “Intelligent News.”  As we sat down to write a list of the kinds of articles that we thought may be interesting, we were surprised at the length and breadth of the innovation that has come from our customers in the application of our products and services. Typical future articles will include:

• Innovative deployment of NTCIP sign upgrades, with WEBDirect web access, to allow effective monitoring of Portable Signs in Idaho.
• “State of the Art” in testing Signal Controllers for NTCIP conformance and lessons learned.
• Innovative use of NTCIP Lane Control Signals to open hard shoulder during congestion, to provide an additional travel lane.
• And many more…

Each of these articles will include a summary of the problem and solution, and a case study of the practical application of the solution, in an easy reading format. Links will be provided for those who want to find additional information and resources.
