Florida DOT Buys Signal Controller NTCIP Test Procedures…
Intelligent Devices has provided the Florida DOT a comprehensive package of Test Procedures, Scripts and Training Services.
Florida DOT has for several years conducted NTCIP testing of Dynamic Message Signs at the Test and Engineering Research Laboratory (TERL) in Tallahassee, FL. More recently TERL have developed plans to conduct NTCIP testing of a wide variety of ITS devices, including Traffic Signal Controllers, CCTV Cameras and Weather Systems.
FDOT, in common with many state and city authorities, have had particular difficulty in establishing a comprehensive test plan for NTCIP Traffic Signal Controllers. After evaluating the various testing products and services on the market, Florida DOT placed an order with Intelligent Devices for a package of services, including:
- NTCIP Test Procedures for Traffic Signal Controllers. This suite of test procedures tests NTCIP conformance, functionality and reliability of Traffic Signal Controllers. These test procedures have been field proven in a number of applications.
- Associated Test Scripts for DeviceTester for NTCIP. These scripts allow the test procedures to be automatically executed, which drastically reduces the time to execute the test.
- NTCIP Test Procedures and Scripts for Weather systems and CCTV Cameras.
- Training and support. This includes on site training in Tallahassee, and maintenance support on DeviceTester.
Florida DOT plan to use this package as a basis for establishing a comprehensive test plan for NTCIP Traffic Signal Controllers and other ITS devices in Florida. The test program for NTCIP Dynamic Message Signs has proved very successful, and TERL plan to replicate this success in Traffic Signal Controllers, and other ITS devices. It also reflects the Florida DOT commitment to the NTCIP standards, for roll out of both Traffic Controllers as well as ITS devices. |
