In spite of the economic downturn, Intelligent Devices continues to grow and prosper. We are looking at another year of continued growth with the ongoing success of the NTCIP standards, and our products and services based on these standards finding increased market acceptance.
The NTCIP Joint Committee continues to meet via teleconference each month and continues to advance a number of documents through the standards process. The accepted standards are now stable and are being widely deployed. It is good to see the initial practical deployments of the new NTCIP 1203 v2 Dynamic Message Sign standard with color and graphics. The industry has been able to implement this new standard with relatively little difficulty.
Intelligent Devices has been awarded an interesting contract in Minneapolis for the Transit Commuter Information System and for the control of the associated real-time signs. The focus of this contract is to change the behavior of commuters away from driving their vehicles to transit by providing better information. Our contract is to provide information about parking availability at Park ‘n Ride lots (Intelligent Parking) to the motorist on the interstate so that that the motorist is assured that there will be parking before exiting the interstate. Also, comparative travel times are displayed on the interstate so that the motorist can see how long it will take to reach downtown via the interstate in a vehicle versus taking transit. Intelligent Devices is also pleased at the agreement with Delcan to launch the Intelligent NETworks product. This joint development combines the best of IDI’s strong focus on NTCIP device control software systems with Delcan’s web-centric NETworks traffic management system product platform. Intelligent NETworks will be offered both by Delcan and by Intelligent Devices.
